Back to the Eurovision Competition

1. All entries must be received by 7pm Symi-time on Saturday 24th May 2008.

2. Supply a name for yourself (nothing obscene or insulting, please) and also a valid, confidential e-mail address. If you win a prize and the email address you supply is not valid, then your entry will be disqualified!.

3. Only one entry will be counted from a particular email address. You can change your vote by entering the competition as many times as you like up until it closes but the latest entry will replace all previous entries from the same supplied e-mail address.

4. Make sure that you don't vote for the same country twice. Any entries like that will, unfortunately, not be counted.

5. All competition entries will be put up on the SymiGreece website after the competition closes and before the Grand-Final begins that same evening. This way, the result of this competition is transparent and we cannot be accused of rigging it. If you don't want people to know how you voted, then make sure you choose an alias when you vote!

6. Each entry will be given a score based on how close it is to the final vote of the Contest. The method of calculating this score is as follows.

Each song in an entry that does not feature within the top ten places of the Contest Final will be given zero points.

For all other songs, the difference between its place in the competition entry and where it finished in the Contest will be calculated. The absolute value of this difference will be subtracted from 10 and then multiplied by the equivalent point value of the song’s placement. You can see this summarised in the table below.

The total points awarded for the ten songs in each entry will be added together and divided by 5.8 to give a total score for that entry. This total has a maximum possible value of 100.

When two entries have the same total score, the entry that has the higher total score based on the first nine songs will be placed higher. If there is still a tie, then the total score of the first eight, seven, six songs, etc. will be used.

In the case of two entries being identical, the entry that was submitted first will be awarded the prize.

7. The top-placed entry to the competition will entitle the winner to enjoy a bottle of champagne at Kantirimi Bar in Symi. The winner will be notified after the Contest using the e-mail address supplied.
