FAROS #4
The fourth FAROS vet clinic in ten months will take place from Thursday 26 until Saturday 28 March 2009. Vets from the Department of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Thessaloniki will be taking time off to come to Symi to work voluntarily for FAROS. As before, the FAROS clinic will operate as a branch of the University’s own clinic and will be subject to the same standards of veterinary care with details of all animals treated becoming part of the University's treatment records. The clinic will be at Kyriaki Apartment in Horio (at the beginning of the road that starts from Syllogos Square in Horio going towards Lemonitissa).

Bring an animal to the vet
FAROS wants to encourage as many people as possible to bring animals to the clinic to be seen by the vets free of charge. During the past 3 visits, FAROS has treated over 130 animals and the treatment ranges from general advice, check-ups and vaccinations, to minor operations, neutering and blood testing. Whether it is your own pet or a stray animal you care for or feed, please bring it to FAROS.

Book Early
FAROS operates a walk-in clinic, but we would like to ask people bringing animals for operations involving general anaesthetic (e.g. neutering), to contact FAROS in advance if possible, to make an appointment so that we can organise the clinic more efficiently and make sure we can fit everyone in.

FAROS Volunteers
FAROS is looking for volunteers to help out during the clinic. If you are on Symi during the vet visit and don't mind spending a few hours either at the clinic or out and about, please contact FAROS on 6945821782 or send us an email.

Our Sponsors
The vets offer their service free of charge, Kalodoukas Holidays is donating the accommodation for the vets and the clinic and Symi Tours is donating boat tickets and transportation.

Please Donate
The cost of the clinic is covered exclusively by voluntary donations. Since FAROS started, less than a year ago, we have equipped and ran three vet clinics spending a total of 5,634 Euros and raised 3,785 Euros from voluntary donations. In other words, we have managed to recoup about two-thirds of the total cost so far and we hope that in the near future we will be in a position to meet all costs via voluntary donations without the need for members of FAROS to use their own money to pay for any shortfall. Please help FAROS maintain the free vet clinic all year round by making a donation to the FAROS Symi Animal Fund. You can do so by clicking the DONATE button below. Thank you very much!
