Symi FestivalSymi Festival 2008 › Symi Festival 2008: Premiere 26 July 16/06/2008, 01:07

The Premiere of this year’s Symi Festival will take place on Saturday 26 July at the central square in Yialos.

The opening concert is reserved for Glykeria, one of the most popular Greek singers who over the past 30 years has sung songs of some of the greatest Greek composers such as Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hadjidakis, Apostolos Kaldaras, Yiannis Markopoulos, and Manos Loizos.

Glykeria is currently collaborating with Mikis Theodorakis, the most famous Greek composer alive and has just released a double cd where she sings new versions of well-known rembetika and popular songs selected by Mikis Theodorakis himself.

For the Premiere of the Symi Festival, Glykeria will be joined on stage by Dimitra Olympiou and Mihalis Emirlis.

The 2008 Symi Festival will be dedicated to Social Solidarity.

SymiGreece is pleased to publish exclusively the drawing by Eva Geraki that will accompany this year’s festival poster.
