My SymiChristosA Different View of Symi: 28 Photos 15/10/2007, 22:53

It was after 3pm when I went for a walk over the hills behind Mavrovouni and down to Nimborio. Despite the glorious blue skies, there has been a noticeable drop in temperature today (as much as 8 degrees Celcius) after the clouds, thunder and rain of the past couple of days. It was still warm enough to wear shorts and t-shirt, even though long trousers and long-sleeves (and even a light jacket for later) was a more appropriate dress code for today.

The temperature drop and my desire for a longer walk made me miss my swim today. Instead, I put "Ola sto Fos" by Eleutheria on my iPod and walked all the way to the very end of the Nimborio road, past the taverna and the last row of houses. I took some photos on the way which you can view as part of today's SymiGreece photos by clicking here.

I went through the gate at the end of the beach and started climbing up along the marked path. The climb is not that difficult and the views of Symi (as well as across to Tilos, Nisiros and Turkey are quite spectacular. I 've never seen Symi from that angle.

Here is what I saw... click on each photo for a larger version, or click here to view all photos in full size.

I could have walked further and taken the (more than one, it seems) paths down to the water's edge, but it was already 5:30 and I wanted to be back before sunset so I left the end of the walk for another day and another blog...
