My SymiChristosSymi Christmas Lights 14 December 2007, 1:02

December nights here in Symi are very bright and Christmassy. This year the main attraction is the Roloi which has been lit up like a giant Christmas Tree making the "entrance to Symi" even more spectacular when you apprach the harbour by boat after nightfall. But it's not just the Roloi. Over the past few years, Symi lights up bigtime in December and nights are sparkly bright well into January. From street lamps and public buildings to almost every Symi home as well as bars and resturants, Symi is at her bright best looking forward to Christmas.

The past couple of days I have been going out at night with my camera to try and capture a bit of the Christmas spirit that is around at night. Despite the storms and heavy downpours of the past couple of weeks, night-time walking is a wonderful experience especially when you find yourself walking alone for most of the time. You get this weird sensation that everyone is left leaving the lights on. Symi is all yours and only yours to enjoy.
