I had not really been abroad before coming out to Symi, so wasn't really sure what it would be like. I had heard lots about this Greek island and my brother had said how it was quite basic in ways but this is what I find makes Symi so unique and special. It makes me realise what's important in life. Each year, I long to get back and experience more of the way of life out there and create more special moments in a place that is true to its own character.

I'm not sure what exactly sums up the character of Symi. But I know part of it is the calmness it holds and how the people over there are rather laid back with friendly, high spirits. The beautiful landscape that Symi has to offer is also a part of my affection for the island. How it has an uninhabited way to it compared to most other places. It's still all very natural and has an untouched way to it. I always like how the many beaches around have a relaxed feel to them, and with me not being a very strong swimmer, the calm, tranquil waters are perfect.

On my first holiday to Symi I went on a round the island trip and it gave me the opportunity to come across what 'paradise' truly is. It is a place that holds much inspiration for me and when I go there, it allows me to reflect on parts of my life. This is down to the surroundings and general atmosphere the island radiates.
I hope to be back again this year hopefully too. I can then have something to work for which I know will be worth it.
