Fifty Days Later 26 December 2008
It's been 50 days since I last went down to Pedi and gave you my first report on the work on the new marina. The day after Christmas Day, and Pedi was quiet with no work going on. The recent heavy rains have created large areas of deep, sticky mud at the building site. The work has progressed well, with almost all of the large concrete blocks now lowered into the sea, and concrete is now being laid on the uppermost to create a level surface. They've not created as large an area as I'd previously thought, but it will be interesting to see how work progresses during January. So far, so good. Expect another update in a month or so.
The Big Dig 6 November 2008
I walked down to Pedi with Barbie today and decided to take a closer look at the initial work on the Marina. For several months there has been a big stack of concrete blocks waiting to be lowered into the sea, and with the arrival of the floating digger/crane, the first few have already been positioned. Work is underway to lay more, and it's truly amazing to watch this massive, aggressive machine doing its job; ripping the seabed up and dumping it onto the large floating deck.
I'll update this blog with news and photos from time to time as the work progresses.
