It was officially confirmed today by Dodekanisos Seaways, that the catamaran "Dodekanisos Pride" will receive public subsidy by the Ministry for the Aegean and Island Policy to replace the "Proteus" in running the Rhodes-Symi-Tilos-Nisiros-Kos-Kalimnos subsidised inter-island service until the 21st of May 2007. "Pride" will run a return service every Tuesday and Thursday leaving Symi at 9:20 going to Rhodes and at 16:55 going to Tilos.
It is not yet clear when the new SAOS II boat (which was supposed to replace the "Proteas" in the inter-island service) will arrive, but at least an alternative service is now available for the next couple of weeks.
Dodekanisos Seaways will also receive subsidy to temporarily run the Rhodes-Katelorizo Rhodes route three times a week (Monday, Thursday and Saturday) with the catamaran "Dodekanisos Express" (also until the 21st of May 2007). On these days, the "Express" will leave Rhodes at 8:30am and arrive at Kastelorizo at 11:00am. It will then leave Kastelorizo at 16:00, making it possible to do a day-trip to the island.
