News › Dodekanisos "Express" to Run Over Winter: Full Timetable 16/11/2007, 06:20

SymiGreece has learned today that the catamaran "Dodekanisos Express", owned by Dodekanisos Seaways will resume its inter-island service in the Dodekanese on Monday 19 November, with two Government subsidised trips a week.

SymiGreece has seen the approved timetable [running from 19 November 2007 till 29 February 2008] and is pleased to be the first to publish it on the web (even before the official Dodekanisos Seaways website).

Despite the fact that the subsidised routes on Wednesdays and Saturdays will not include Symi, it will be possible to make a day-trip from Rhodes to Symi every Sunday over the winter months. The timetable will appear on the official Dodekanisos Seaways website in the next few days.

In addition to the "Dodekanisos Express", the "Proteus" car ferry as well as the Aegli hydrofoil (both run by ANES) will be running a regular service over the winter months. You can view their winter timetable on the ANES website.

SymiGreece has also learned that the ongoing problem with the lack of a direct ferry link between Symi and Pireus may be about to be resolved as an agreement may be imminent for GA Ferries and the boat "Milena" to start including Symi in its service from Pireus to Rhodes from December 2007 (though it's not clear yet whether this will be part of a subsidised package by the Government). Let's hope this will prove to be true and that Symi will start having a direct link with Pireus again after a whole year.
