At Panormitis' sponge shop we sell only natural sea sponges of the type that Symi's fortunes were built upon.
Recommended by doctors as superior to the modern synthetic sponge for exfoliation and treatment of skin problems, the natural sea sponge is a complex, slow-growing creature that comes in over 5000 different varieties and is already at least 70 years old before it is brought up from depths of between 100 and 200 metres.
