High-speed internet (or ADSL as is also known) has finally arrived on Symi. The first ADSL modems were delivered and installed last week bringing to an end the slow dialup connections. Everyone using the new service is guaranteed an "always on" connection with no time charge. You can now use high-speed internet at Kantirimi and Roloi café bars in Yialos.

The service is currently only available from OTE but it must be only a matter of time before the other internet providers start to offer similar services. At present, OTE offers three high-speed internet connection packages: 384 Kbps, 512 Kbps 1024 Kbps. There are a number of offers currently available, but as an indication the 384 Kbps connection costs about 22.50 Euros a month, the 512 Kbps about 35.50 Euros a month and the 1024 Kbps about 47.50 Euros a month. The prices will probably go down later in the year.

For more details on ADSL and the packages offered by OTE, visit the following OTE website either in English or in Greek.
