The 1st Symi art competition for Symi’s schoolchildren was a great success. It had the protection and care of Symi’s animals as its subject and about 100 children from the nursery and primary schools took part. All entries were presented in an exhibition at Symi's Nautical Museum on Saturday 27 June 2009.

FAROS contacted many of the artists who live on Symi and asked them to judge the competition. The chosen pieces have been included in a Calendar for 2010 which is now available online.
